Deferred revenue automation
Briefcase has launched deferred revenue automation for Xero and QuickBooks clients, building on existing prepayments functionality to streamline financial close workflows.

How It Works
- Upload sales invoices via existing channels (web upload, WhatsApp, or email forwarding). For current clients, sales invoice processing must be enabled; new clients have this enabled automatically.
- Automatic Detection — The deferred revenue AI agent reviews uploaded invoices and identifies eligible deferred revenue scenarios.
- Review and Publish — Users examine the proposed revenue recognition schedule. Once published, Briefcase posts recurring journal entries at each period end.
- Maintain Control — Users can reverse journals, adjust amounts, or archive schedules at any time.
Tracking & Reconciliation
All active schedules appear in a dedicated tracker where users can compare Briefcase's calculated remaining balance against actual deferred revenue liability balances in their accounting system.
